Door bells ring and cameras flash each year as people, young and old, go out to celebrate Halloween. It’s the one holiday each year when imitating someone or something else is acceptable. Although many are able to escape the reality of who they are and hide behind makeup and costumes for a night. One feeling that’s inevitable is that of fear. Whether minor fears of a child eating too much sugar or anxiety over safety, here are five scriptures to remember about fear before beginning your Halloween festivities.

The bible tells us in Romans 10: 9-10 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”
Although salvation is simple and easy, situations in life are sometimes not. There are many weapons at our disposal including the bible, prayer, fasting and one of my favorites, praise. Growing up in a religious family there are countless songs of praise and worship that have helped me push through tough times and shout through the good ones. What to look for in a church home /
I moved to Rancho Cucamonga on a Saturday in November of 2016 and attended Abundant Living Family Church the following Sunday. Knowing it was a “mega church” I didn’t think I would make it my home. I had attended local churches with smaller congregations my entire life. They were my comfort zone. I knew what to expect, what to wear, how to behave. A year later, I hadn’t missed many services, but I also hadn’t become an official member. A few months after I completed the “Next Steps” growth track and was added to the roster, I accepted my current position and transitioned to Orange County, CA. For a year I’ve traveled back to Rancho Cucamonga and recently began visiting local churches to avoid the commute. Although I still have not joined a new church, as I visit these are four things I’ve sought, that anyone should look for when examining their current place of worship or seeking a new church home.
