The bible tells us in Romans 10: 9-10 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”
Although salvation is simple and easy, situations in life are sometimes not. There are many weapons at our disposal including the bible, prayer, fasting and one of my favorites, praise. Growing up in a religious family there are countless songs of praise and worship that have helped me push through tough times and shout through the good ones. Although there are millions of believers around the globe sometimes it can seem like you’re alone in your walk with Christ. The world’s distractions can often surround you from social media to radio and television. Before moving to California, I never felt outnumbered by unbelievers. Since I’ve moved I’ve grown a deeper relationship with God and a stronger faith. Although it hasn’t always seemed easy incorporating Jesus into all areas of my life has been helpful in keeping my eyes on the Lord. Here’s three ways to help you stay focused too.

The value of faith and family was instilled in my brothers, sister and I from the beginning of our lives. As a child I was never allowed to go to sleepovers or birthday parties of classmates. Both of my parents had multiple siblings who also had children, and our free time was spent at church and/or with family. These are values that remain important and fundamental in my life today.
I was always surrounded by Christians who believed and never had to worry about being offensive by showing my faith until I did. As I grew older I understood that my parents kept me and my siblings in the company of family to avoid outside influence before we were mature enough to remain true to Christian principles we’d been taught even when others around us didn’t.
