When we look back on 2020 the challenges that resulted from a global pandemic, a national movement to build equity for all and a presidential election will all be referenced for many years to come. As we enter a new year, I’m grateful for the many achievements and experiences that happened in 2020 and excited for the years ahead.
Browsing through blog posts, photos and notes from the year made me realize how blessed I am in the midst of the circumstances of the world. I’m a firm believer in celebrating every victory, big and small, and this post shares some highlights of my year.
Health
Survived the pandemic without contracting the Coronavirus
Completed Cheslie Kryst’s 600 Ab Challenge for 95 consecutive days pushing myself beyond what I thought was possible
Increased consistency of 10K steps daily
Decreased carbs by limiting bread and pasta with the exception of weekends (starting with Chick-Fil-A Fridays)
Increased vegetable consumption with daily salads during the work week
Work Life
Benefitted from increased flexibility with ability to work from home and/or remotely
Recognized for displaying company values in the TGR Foundation Employee Spotlight
Nominated to join the 2021 Values Committee and began term
Contributed to a successful app and website launch for the TGR Foundation scholarship program’s students and alumni
Increased marketing and communications deliverables and programs impact
Personal Life
Completed several freelance projects
Increased speaking engagements and completed most appearances of professional career (virtually & in person)
Spent more consecutive time with my family than I have in the last four years, since I moved to California
Reunited with my grad school friends after four years and connected biweekly for accountability and updates
Enhanced relationship and trust with my mentee
Relieved my hair from relaxed strands
Voted in a historical election
Organized and executed a successful virtual Relay For Life as an Event Co-Chair
Exceeded my Relay For Life Fundraising Goal
Expanded personal and professional development through podcasts
Spent more time at California Beaches
Joined TikTok and RewardStyle (@jasminectate)
Made myself count in the US Census
Survived the Silverado Fire
Completed my first Jury Duty assignment virtually
Saved energy through Ohm Connect
Baked 100 cookies and wrote notes to Marines and Sailors on behalf of Mariners Church
Shopped at Ikea for the first time
Said yes to another bridesmaid proposal
Finances
Increased my credit score
Secured income from freelance projects
Increased support for nonprofit organizations through charitable giving
Faith
Reached one year as a life group leader at Mariners Church
Increased fasting sessions
Attended my second Mariners Women Awaken event
Experiences
Danced the night away at a Country Club and learned more line dances

Went on more dates than I’ve had in the last four years
Learned how to snorkel in the Caribbean
