Five steps to set and achieve your goals by Jasmine Tate

‘Tis the season for goal setting.

Every year I reflect on the blessings and accomplishments over the last 365 days and prepare for the next; it's an emotional experience. With a global pandemic, a pivotal period of the Black Lives Matter movement, the push for diversity, equity and inclusion and a historic election season, emotional is a word that describes 2020 well for me. Although the pandemic shifted some of my goals in 2020, looking back on all that I experienced, overcame and achieved, I know that God is real and good.

I’ve set my goals for 2021 and shared them with some of my close family and friends who found it helpful and adopted many of my goals. If you haven’t set your goals for 2021, it’s never too late, and the five steps below will help you get started.

21 Questions for self-auditing and self-reflection by Jasmine Tate

Since joining TGR Foundation, the annual staff retreat is something I’ve looked forward to because I’m a big fan of personal and professional development, and it gives the staff time to take a break from the work and reconnect to each other and our why. Including interactive small group activities and covering topics from Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, to personal and professional development, the two days of workshops were insightful and inspirational. We explored our personal values, wellness exercises like Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) Tapping and more. As I think back on the retreat and look forward to a new season, I’m sharing quotes and 20 questions that were asked and emerged throughout the training as I continue the ongoing process of self-reflection and self-auditing. Whether thinking through the answers or writing them down, they can all lead to action and significant change.

Praise Playlist Update: Top 10 songs on repeat by Jasmine Tate

The bible tells us in  Romans 10: 9-10 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

Although salvation is simple and easy, situations in life are sometimes not. There are many weapons at our disposal including the bible, prayer, fasting and one of my favorites, praise. Growing up in a religious family there are countless songs of praise and worship that have helped me push through tough times and shout through the good ones.
